SAYSO Announcement!
We are excited to announce Brooklyn’s first annual SAYSO (Sexual Assault Yearly Speak Out)! Safe Horizon’s Brooklyn Rape and Sexual Assault Program is planning this public event that raises awareness about sexual assault and sexual assault services while celebrating healing and recovery. SAYSO is planned for April 20th, 2010 and will be held at St. Francis College in downtown Brooklyn. We have several options available if you would like to participate in this event.
As you may know, Safe Horizon’s Brooklyn Rape and Sexual Assault Program provides time-limited counseling and advocacy to survivors of sexual assault, along with their families and friends. The program also raises awareness of sexual violence through presentations and outreach. This year, we are organizing Brooklyn’s first SAYSO event following successful similar events in Manhattan and Staten Island. For more information about previous SAYSO events, please visit the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault website:
We invite you to become involved in the following ways:
· Community Partner- attend monthly planning meetings; assist in the marketing and event promotion, planning speakers, and/or with general logistics of the event.
· Community Supporter- participate the day of the event in one of the following ways: represent your organization at a table, speak or perform, facilitate a healing activity of your choice, or volunteer to help set up and clean up for the event.
· Other- we welcome any suggestions you have about how your organization might contribute!
